Bollywood starlet Nupur Mehta, whose picture was published in the Sunday Times for her alleged link with bookies to homey trap cricketers, threatened to sue the British Daily for maligning her image.
The image with blur face published in the Sunday Times is of Nupur Mehta. In an exclusive interview to a Private news channel, Nupur denied any links with bookmakers.
Nupur said that the picture published in the Sunday Times is of her but she has no relation with any cricketers.
“Photo is mine but the allegations are baseless. My picture has been used for publicity stunt. I have nothing to do with match fixing and I haven’t in relationship with any cricketers too.”
The Bollywood starlet also threatened legal action against the British daily.
"I am disappointed that London's Sunday Times is giving me a bad name. I am taking action against them for maligning my image and giving me mental trauma. Even if it is for representative purpose only, they have not taken my permission."
Earlier, the Sunday Times sent a shockwaves across the world by publishing a sting operation in front page titled "English cricket in bung scandal".
In the article, the daily wrote, quoting an Indian bookie that India vs Pakistan World Cup Semi-final in Mohali was also fixed. The daily claimed that bookmakers used a Bollywood actress to seduce Pakistani players for fixing. The Sunday Times also published a photograph of the actress with blur face.
The English daily also claimed that ICC knew the details of the actress.
Soon after the picture was published in the Sunday Times, speculations were rife in media regarding the identity of the actress.
